Detour Coffee Roasters started back in 2009 in Dundas, Ontario, Canada (just outside Hamilton) and was built around the concept that coffee could be more than just a mindless morning fuel. Founder Kaelin McCowan believed strongly in relationships with producers and sourcing the highest quality green coffees from interesting origins, regions and farms around the world. He built the roastery and original cafe around the idea of small-batch, terroir focused coffee that was roasted fresh to order and people quickly fell in love with what was in the cup. Nearly a decade later, as the specialty coffee industry has exploded at an unfathomable pace, Detour has remained steadfast in the belief that curating fine coffees built on relationships with partners at origin and buying ethically and sustainably allows them to be true to their product, customers and industry as a whole. Like the classic VW beetle, Punch Buggy is unique, friendly, and suits all occasions. As Detour’s flagship coffee, and the coffee served at The Cheese Gallery, this blend is built around the love of coffees from the Cachoeira da Grama farm in Brazil, Punch Buggy maintains a Brazil base while rotating fresh, vibrant seasonal Central American coffees through the blend. Rich and balanced with loads of sugar browning aromatics, a syrupy texture and sweet flavours of deep chocolate, nut and cherry. This coffee always gives Reese’s peanut butter cup vibes. Can’t really go wrong.
An extremely versatile coffee that's great for any brewing method, Detour Dark is the perfect coffee to take camping, cottaging or yurting (should that be your thing). Robust and confident, this rich, chocolaty coffee is roasted a touch hotter and a little bit longer than its peers. The focus is all on the flavours developed through this caramelization process and culminate in a rich, and heavy cup with a creamy texture, that's developed enough to bring out layers of deep chocolate, toasted nut and molasses flavours without imparting any of those pesky charcoal notes. Detour Dark will always be full of the very best quality single-origin beans that rotate seasonally from direct coffee-growing partners across the globe.

The summer blend, Daydream, packs all the summer vibes together in one dreamy cup. It’s light, bright, and breezy like swinging in a hammock with a wavy Oceanside view. Aromatics of florals and fresh summer fruits flow to a silky texture and sweet juicy flavours of fuzzy peaches, lemon-lime and fudgsicle. The major component of this limited blend has quickly become one of the most sought-after coffees from the Western part of Ethiopia.
